NGO perspectives on human rights advocacy and foreign policy

In this roundtable discussion, leading human rights advocates in civil society will share their perspectives on current challenges in securing human rights through foreign policy advocacy strategies.  Featuring perspectives from across continents, panel members will comment on how different states are supporting human rights through their foreign policy and the various strategies used by human rights NGOs in this changing landscape of international relations. 
 
The panel will feature the following distinguished human rights advocates:

  • Ahmed Adam, Programme Manager, UN Advocacy, Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM ASIA)
  • Marc Limon, Executive Director, Universal Rights Group

The event will be chaired by Dr Corinne Lennox, Co-Director of the Human Rights Consortium, School of Advanced Study, University of London.

This plenary panel was part of the 7th Joint Human Rights Conference on Human Rights and Foreign Policy.  This international conference is co-organised by the Human Rights Consortium, University of London, the Human Rights Section of the International Studies Association (ISA), the Human Rights Section of the American Political Science Association (APSA), and the Standing Group on Human Rights and Transitional Justice, European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
