The Warburg Institute Library, Photographic Collection and Archive
The Warburg Institute Library contains over 350,000 volumes on a wide range of subjects connected to the survival of the classical tradition, including: history of art, classical art and archaeology; literature, books, libraries and education; religion, history of science and philosophy; cultural and political history.
The Photographic Collection comprises some 300,000 photographs of sculptures, paintings, prints, tapestries and other forms of imagery.
The Archive holds the papers of the Institute’s founder Aby M. Warburg (1866–1929) and of other distinguished scholars closely associated with it from the early days in Hamburg to the present.
