The integrated study of languages, cultures and societies requires researchers to draw on a range of methods and approaches at the intersection of the Humanities and Social Sciences. New and emerging areas of research, opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as greater emphasis on research impact and engagement, also require researchers to develop new knowledge and skills throughout their careers.

This session is aimed at supporting languages, cultures and societies researchers to identify their training and development needs in a rapidly changing research landscape. The session will offer an overview of new and emerging training needs for languages, cultures and societies research, explore strategies for incorporating new methodologies into research projects, and through a series of practical exercises, it will provide researchers with the opportunity to reflect on and develop their personal training and development plan.

Please note this session will involve small- and large-group discussions and those who register should be able to attend the full session and be prepared to interact with the session leader and the other participants. The initial presentation will be made available as a recording after the session.

Session leaders: Sophie Stevens and Naomi Wells (ILCS)
