In the Combined Classics Library, Institute of Classical Studies

ICS Creative Practitioner in Residence So Mayer invites you to be bodies in the library! Come prepared to play, collaborate, and feel, as we explore how a range of creative practices can support, refresh and expand our research. No prior creative practice necessary, just curiosity. Please bring some notes or thoughts on some research in progress, and any blocks you’re experiencing, that you’d be willing to share with the group.

Dr. So Mayer is the author of five collections of poetry, several books on feminist and queer cinema, and forthcoming short story collection Truth and Dare (Cipher Press). Their 2020 Peninsula Press essay on archives A Nazi Word for a Nazi Thing was adapted as the basis for the 2022 BBC Sounds podcast (broadcast on Radio 4Extra) The Film We Can’t See. Their writing has appeared in international publications including frieze, Shuddhashar and Literal, on hoardings in Dublin, at Yoko Ono’s Meltdown, and it has been translated into Japanese, Russian, and Greek.

In-person event open to all but limited in numbers; pre-registration essential.
