Tarot Late with card readings by Katie Anderson

Visit the exhibition Tarot – Origins & Afterlives after hours and stay for a tarot reading in the gallery with participating artist Courtney Alexander.

Please note that readings are on a first come, first served basis, and will last approximately 15 minutes each. Please arrive early to avoid any disappointment. Readings will take place in Room V of the exhibition, inside the “Tarotkammer”, and therefore other artworks on display in this room will not be viewable unless you are receiving a reading.

Katie Anderson is a public artist based in South West Scotland, working across a range of projects from permanent public sculpture, participatory works, and ephemeral sound-based installations. She is interested in the role that artists and creative actions can play in activating community spaces, energising those involved in its production and inspiring new ways of approaching challenging conversations or experimental ideas. 

From 2019-2022 Katie worked on a small series of works in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, commissioned by Art Gene that explored conversational artworks for exploring possible futures for the town and wider community, including the Barrow Tarot deck. The Barrow Tarot is a playful tool 'fortune telling for a future town’, but is also a useful conversational action for exploring uncertain futures and challenging or conflicting dialogues, taking inspiration from the past and present communities of Barrow-in-Furness.
