Different types of scientific imaging data (e.g. X-ray imaging, digital microscopy, 3D scans…) each provide a unique perspective on cultural heritage objects. For example, X-ray imaging can reveal internal structures, while 3D scans capture surface detail. Combining these different datasets together, while a challenging and time-consuming process, can offer insights that wouldn't be possible with any one dataset alone. In this presentation, I will discuss different methods I developed during my postdoc at the British Museum to simplify combining 3D imaging datasets. I will also discuss possible methods for sharing such combined data with other researchers and the general public.

In person only event.
