“Left in limbo: Inadmissibility to asylum procedures, risks and implications”

This first session analyses the legal and policy consequences of proposed government measures to refrain from processing the claims for asylum lodged by people travelling irregularly to the UK. We look at issues ranging from the lawfulness of these measures vis-á-vis the Refugee Convention to the kinds of legal action that might ensue in individual cases.

Chair:Prof. David Cantor (Refugee Law Initiative)

Discussants:

  • Larry Bottinick (Office of UN High Commissioner for Refugees)
  • Zoe Bantleman (Immigration Law Practitioners Association)
  • Sonali Naik KC (Garden Court)
  • Mark Symes (Garden Court)
