Late Medieval and Renaissance Latin (Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced) 2024-2025
The Warburg Institute offers online courses in late Medieval and Renaissance Latin in 2024-2025 at beginner, intermediate and advanced level, designed to train students to read and understand a variety of late Medieval and Renaissance texts. Depending on level, these classes will focus on vocabulary acquisition, grammar and syntax, and the forms commonly used by medieval and early modern texts. Students will be encouraged to consider the evolution of Latinity and to read the language with greater confidence.
For those interested in the Intermediate or Advanced class, if you are unsure of your level of proficiency in Latin please complete and return the language level exercise before booking the course. Complete beginners in Latin should not attempt the exercise. Click here to download the test.
These courses do not award CATS credits, but students at each level will be able to take a mock exam and two assessments, and receive feedback, in late spring or early summer 2025, dates tbc. The assessments will be taken online at home and not under "exam conditions".
