History of the Book MA Publication Celebration
This event was originally planned for 9 January but it is now postponed to 7 February 2024.
Please join us to celebrate the publications of two recent IES History of the Book MA students, Sophie Jones (MA 2022) and Steven Prizeman (MRes 2022). Sophie and Steven have both successfully revised their dissertations for publication.
Sophie’s dissertation research was generously supported by a PG Bursary funded by the Penguin Collectors Society. Sophie’s article 'The Puffin Cut-Out Books: Noel Carrington and the Authors, Illustrators and Designers' is being published in Penguin Collectors Magazine #100.
Steven’s work identifies new evidence to secure the authorship of Milton’s nephew, John Phillips in: A Satyr Against Hypocrites (1655), containing an overlooked attack upon Milton; the Montelion almanacs (1660, 1661, 1662), each containing disparaging remarks about Milton; and Don Juan Lamberto (1660–1), confirming Phillips’s authorship and revealing a hitherto unrecognized satirical attack upon Milton. Steven’s article, The High Priest of Blind Zeal: Milton, Montelion and mockery was published in Historical Research on 1st November, 2023.
