Collaborative Ethnography: Broadening Access to Knowledge Production

This session will focus on understanding the basics of Collaborative Ethnography as a research method, and learning some ways to apply it to research projects. In its potential to broaden access to knowledge production, this method speaks to decolonial theory, which we will briefly examine, alongside some case-studies from my research experience with South American women musicians and poets. Applying a useful nine-dimension framework to assess processes of collaboration in ethnographic research (Arribas Lozano 2020), participants will be able to analyse their own research processes and come up with innovative ways to collaborate in the future.
Please note this session will involve small- and large-group discussions and those who register should be able to attend the full session and be prepared to interact with the session leader and the other participants. The initial presentation will be made available as a recording after the session.
