Being Human Festival Training: Event Delivery and Top Tips
This free online training session will provide an overview of the practicalities of delivering a public engagement event. Come along to explore the key elements to consider in the run up to the event and on the day itself to ensure your event runs smoothly.
The session will be led by the Being Human Festival team and will cover topics such as coordinating your team, key things to think about when preparing your event space, accessibility and inclusivity, and the audience experience.
We will be joined by past festival organiser Dr Milly Williamson, who will provide real-life examples and top tips to consider when delivering an event as part of Being Human Festival

Dr Milly Williamson
Dr Milly Williamson is a Senior Lecturer in Media Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths University of London. She is author of 30+ publications including Celebrity Capitalism and the Making of Fame (2016 Polity Press). Dr Williamson's expertise includes forms of public prominence and the construction of race, which come together in the monograph she is currently writing entitled What Are Statues For (Bristol University Press), which was also the name of her event for Being Human Festival 2023. Dr Williamson is also collaborating on a film on the Bristol Colston Statue.
Joining the event
This event is free, but booking is required. It will be held online and details about how to join the event will be circulated to registered attendees via email. This event is part of a series of Being Human Festival training sessions exploring public engagement with research.
