Academic Citizenship: Collaboration and Community-building as a Researcher
Session Leader: Dr Elizabeth Dearnley (Edinburgh Napier University)
As researchers, particularly in the humanities, our work can sometimes feel quite solitary and isolating (not helped by the long-standing academic myth of the 'lone solitary genius'). How can we counteract this, and how can we go about finding and/or creating supportive communities that will sustain us as we move through our careers? How might we go about finding collaborators for projects? Run by a researcher and creative practitioner whose career has been built around collaborative work, this workshop invites you to explore ways of building community within the academy.
