Research degrees

Our research degrees via distance learning allow you to study for a University of London MPhil or PhD degree from anywhere in the world. The programme is run on the same basis as campus-based programmes.

As a distance learning student, you'll receive regular contact with the supervisor via video conferencing software, as well as access to our e-learning portal and vast range of electronic resources. During induction week, held on-campus in central London, you'll undertake an intensive research training course and have the opportunity to meet your supervisor, student representatives and other students beginning their PhDs. You'll also be required to come to London for your upgrade and for the viva.
