Description

Daniel Hahn, Translator from Portuguese, Spanish and French Lisa Lixiang Shao , UK China Association of Linguists

This workshop series will focus on some of the most widely spoken languages of the world, in cultural contexts in which they are less common. In 2016-17, the sessions will cover Chinese, Arabic and Portuguese.

The workshops will provide insights into the translation processes in different languages. The sessions are led by professional translators and language teachers and will include examples of cultural/linguistic translation difficulties into and from English, as well as a brief list of resources for translators.
We welcome language students, linguists, translators and language teachers in multicultural contexts, with an opportunity for discussion on specific topics.

This event is sponsored by the Camões Centre for Portuguese Language and Culture at King's College London.

Attendance free
