The topic is titled: ' Careers Panel Session - Academic Posts, Corporate Counsel, Professional Legal Practice and NGO Work'. There will be four Panel Members to take attendees questions and proffer career advice/insights: Dr Samantha Fairclough (Law Lecturer at the University of Birmingham - whose research interests include Vulnerable Witnesses in the Crown Court), Mr Alan Brener (Teaching Fellow at UCL and QMUL, who has a working lifetime's experience in financial services and is in the finishing stages of completing a PhD at QMUL), Mr Calvin Jackson (Practising member of the Bar, who has extensive experience in professional and financial services and is a PhD student at IALS), and Ms Nuala Mole (Senior Lawyer at The AIRE Centre - the individual human rights charity based at IALS that takes cases to the highest European Courts), recently winning the FT award was for innovative work on bringing together previously unconnected areas of law to meet the needs of children, including asylum seeking, abducted and other separated children. 


The IALS PhD Masterclass is an opportunity to discuss PhD research with colleagues, with expert input from senior academics experienced in PhD research.  The Masterclasses should not be seen as an alternative to the advice and instruction received from your Supervisors, but should rather complement them.
