The Germanic Studies Library houses almost 100,000 volumes covering German, Austrian and Swiss-German language and literature from their respective beginnings until the present day, with particular emphasis on primary texts, journals and reference works.
There are significant holdings on 18th-century drama, exile, expressionism, the George-Kreis, Swiss and East German literature, and substantial manuscript and archive collections.
The Germanic Studies Library is located within Senate House Library. The opening image (above) is the view you will see when you enter Senate House Library (4th floor, Senate House). The Membership Desk is directly ahead, with the entry gates located to the right.
