Date: Tuesday April 29, 2025. 16:00 BST. Online only.

This seminar in the Creativity and Practice in Digital Humanities series will take the form of a round-table discussion on the subject of PhD research in DH and related fields with a significant digital practice component, in particular hearing from several scholars whose doctoral work included a significant amount of “practical” or creative research, but was examined entirely via the traditional, written, hundred-thousand-word thesis. What considerations had to be made re skills, time, duration of programme? How was the practical work communicated to examiners? Did the examination process limit the research or neglect part of the student’s practice? There will be the opportunity for discussion between the panellists and with the audience more widely.

All welcome
