Tuesday 27 June 2017

Professor Barry C Smith, director of the Institute of Philosophy (IP) and founder of the Study for the Centre of the Senses (CenSes), discusses salting butter, handling and eating nettles, the smell of goat and reactions to smells on BBC Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet programme (at 04:06, 07:07, 09:29, 15:28, 21:30, 26:30). Meanwhile, on BBC Radio 3’s Free Thinking show, he explores the joys of food while considering questions such as ‘Can going out for a meal really be an aesthetic experience, like going to a gallery or a theatre?’ and ‘What kind of statement are we making when we say we don't like beetroot?’
