Lord Upjohn Lecture: Baroness Ruth Deech lectures on 'The Student Contract'

The School of Advanced Study at the University of London is pleased to announce that is has been awarded a Sawyer Seminar grant from the prestigious Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for a Comparative Study of Cultures seminar series. The Mellon Foundation's Sawyer Seminars program was established in 1994 to provide support for comparative research on the historical and cultural sources of contemporary developments. 

National Bibliographical Partnership: RILM-UK and the Institute of Musical Research

Following a three-year research grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to bring references to UK publications up to date, the RILM-UK team at the University of Nottingham is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Institute of Musical Research from 1 May 2008. The new framework enables the project to be funded indefinitely and ensures that UK research will remain up to date in RILM International for the foreseeable future.

PRESS RELEASEIHR/03/08 Date issued: 7th May, 2008For immediate release ANNOUNCEMENT 1 May 2008 The Institute of Historical Research, School of Advanced Study is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director, Professor Miles Taylor from 1 October 2008. Professor Taylor is currently Professor of Modern History and Head of Department of History at the University of York, and is a specialist in the Victorian period. He replaces Professor David Bates who left the Institute after four and half years in mid-March.

School of Advanced Study increases value of fellowships Apply now for research fellowships in humanities and social sciences in 2009 The School of Advanced Study research fellowships, which have been increased in value to £7,500, provide University of London staff relief from teaching and administration for a period of dedicated research time. The money is paid to the University of London College or Department to help with the buy-out of teaching.
