Artificial sound can alter how a person perceive their body

A study by Dr Ophelia Deroy, researcher at the Institute of Philosophy (IP), and Dr Merle Fairhurst, post-doctoral research fellow, which provides the first evidence that an artificial sound can alter how a person perceives their own body is published by Scientific Reports. ‘Contingent sounds change the mental representation of one’s finger length’ was conducted in collaboration with UCL and the University of Warwick.
