The Institute's aim is to promote and facilitate high quality research in philosophy, making it available to the widest possible audience both inside and outside the UK's academic community.
The Institute of Philosophy (IP) was founded in 2005, building upon and developing the work of the Philosophy Programme (1995–2005). Its aim is to promote and facilitate high-quality research in philosophy, making it available to the widest possible audience both inside and outside the UK's academic community.
It offers a range of events, including lectures, seminars, and conferences; visiting and postdoctoral research fellowships; and research support, including digital resources and information for graduate students.
The Director of the Institute of Philosophy is Professor Barry Smith.
