Peter Lyon Memorial Lecture 2012: Skeletons in Britannia's Closet? Reassessing British Documents on the End of Empire in the light of the 'Migrated Archives'
Wm. Roger Louis is Kerr Chair in English History and Culture, and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of Ends of British Imperialism: the Scramble for Empire, Suez, and Decolonization (2006). He has written or edited more than thirty books including Imperialism at Bay (1977) and The British Empire in the Middle East (1984). He is Editor-in-Chief of The Oxford History of the British Empire,and past President of the American Historical Association.
Dr Peter Lyon, OBE, joined the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in 1969. He served as its Academic Secretary until his retirement in 1995 and held the title of Reader in International Relations. He retained his association with the Institute after 1995 as Emeritus Reader and Senior Research Fellow. Peter served as editor of The Round Table from 1982 to 2003. He died in October 2010.
