- Description
-
This panel will look at international mechanisms that guarantee protection for communities and activists whose rights have or could potentially be violated as a result of the presence of megaprojects and agro-business. Instruments that states can call on include the International Bill of Rights, the core ILO conventions, OECD Guidelines, UNDRIP, and EU Guidelines for the protection of HRDs, as well as national and regional court rulings. To what extent is there is compliance with these mechanisms and potential gaps that need addressing? What is the UK doing to implement the UN Framework on Business and HR? How can the framework engender greater respect and accountability on human rights by both companies and States?
