The Third Floor rooms of Senate House 1995-2005
The School's facilities used to have rooms in the South Block of Senate House on the second and third floor :
- Room 248 (2nd floor)
- Room 329/330 (3rd floor)
- Room 331 (3rd floor)
- Room 349 (3rd floor)
- Room 350 (3rd floor)
- Common Room (3rd floor)
Room 248
This seminar room was set in boardroom style and was suitable for meeting and teaching classes. It could hold 20 people seated around the table, 30 people if one used the sides of the room as well.

- room 321
Room 329/330
These rooms could be divided or turned into one large room, by removing the partition between them. Each individual room had a capacity of 50 people. Set up in the lecture style, the room became then highly suitable for conferences for up to 110 people. Set up in boardroom style, the room could accommodate a large meeting or convention.

Room 331
This room was set up in boardroom style and was suitable for seminars and meetings. It had a capacity of 25 people around the table, 35 people if one used the sides of the room as well.

Room 349
This room had an attractive painted ceiling and was most suitable for meetings. However it could be adapted for lectures and seminars into theatre style. It had a capacity of 25 people around the table, up to a maximum of 70 people if one used the spaces at the ends.

Room 350
This meeting room was ideal for small seminar classes or meetings. It had a capacity of 14 people and adjoined room 349.

Common Room
The Common Room allowed the School to hold receptions after seminars and conferences. It has a capacity of over 150 people.
Its own Cafe brought a unique atmosphere to the place which was very friendly and was open to staff, students and visitors. The Common Room Cafe has a selection of daily fresh sandwiches and other dishes at very affordable prices. It also offers catering services for events, with a menu of aperitifs, amuse-bouches, sandwiches, cheese and fruit. A selection of wine is also available.
The School's Common Room, on the third floor of Senate House, was open to all, throughout the opening hours of Senate House. The Common Room Café provides refreshment facilities and opportunities for informal meetings and conversation. The Common Room is available for hire (evenings only), for wine receptions, book launches etc.
The Institute of Historical Research, situated in the North block of Senate House, also has a Common Room, open to all. Its Cafe is open on weekday evenings and on Saturdays on a self-service basis.
