School welcomes over 800 visitors during the Bloomsbury Festival

Thursday 10 November 2011

Over the weekend of 21-23 October 2011, over 800 visitors attended School events held as part of the Bloomsbury Festival 2011.

The School, which is also a patron of the Festival and has been involved since it was first held in 2006, hosted a diverse events programme. Events ranged from a Magical Library art installation and an exhibition celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Historical Research to poetry, music, local history talks and guided walks, and a philosophically-inspired wine tasting.

The 2011 Bloomsbury Festival proved to be the biggest in its history so far, with an estimated 40,000 visitors attending an eclectic mix of more than 150 events.

The Festival is organised each year by Hidden Cities, a London-based cultural producing company. Bringing together locally based organisations such as the British Museum, Wellcome Collection, The Place, The Foundling Museum, Faber & Faber and the School of Advanced Study with community groups and businesses, the Bloomsbury Festival transforms the streets and parks of the area with a programme of over 150 events.
