Former interns
Simon Bennett: Simon was the Events and Communications Intern at the Human Rights Consortium from May 2011 to September 2012. He reported on events including the Refugee Law Initiative seminar series on refugee integration, the Equality and Human Rights Commission workshop and the London Debates 2011. He co-edited, alongside Eadaoin O’Brien, an edited volume on 'The Future of Human Rights in the Non-Western World', and was the author of the introductory chapter. He worked to develop and diversify the online social media presence of the HRC, managed website content and electronic mailings, and contributed to the planning and execution of events. Simon holds the voluntary position of Regional Coordinator, Southern Africa at Amnesty International UK. He also has an interest in the domestic and international rights of refugees and asylum seekers, pursued through his academic work and voluntary roles at Detention Action and the British Refugee Council. He completed his MA in Understanding and Securing Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London, in 2012.
