Student email accounts
All students of the School will be provided with a student email account. Student email addresses follow the format:
You should check your School email account regularly as academic and administrative staff will use them as the primary mode of contact. Your student email account can be access remotely via http://outlook.com.
To log-in, you will be asked for the following information:
- Username: firstname.lastname@postgrad.sas.ac.uk
- Password: provided during registration (case-sensitive)
To access computers and the School network
When you log into a SAS PC or to access online areas such as the SAS intranet or Study Online, you will be prompted to enter the following:
- Username: firstname.lastname@postgrad.sas.ac.uk
- Password: provided during registration (case-sensitive)
Passwords for email and network
Passwords for email and to access the network will be initially set as the same. These two accounts are not connected to each other. So if you reset one password, then the other won’t change. You might find it easier to keep them both the same. Guides on how to re-set your accounts are available from the Registry pages on the School intranet.
Support
If you need any help with email or network access please contact sas.support@postgrad.ac.uk. Please provide as much information as possible when contacting the support team, including:
- what you are trying to access (email or intranet, or Study Online etc)
- describe the problem if it is more than to request the re-setting of a password
- your student ID

Your email account will be disabled on the last day of the year in which you graduate in December. You will automatically receive an alumni email account.
Online storage
Online storage for School students Online storage for documents is available through Windows Live SkyDrive. The system will allow you to create, edit, store, access, and share thousands of documents and other material (photographs, etc). Although this is a Microsoft system, you don’t need to have Microsoft Office installed on your computer to use it.
Alumni email accounts
Following graduation, which takes place in December, your postgraduate student email account will automatically be changed to a new School alumni email account with the domain suffix sasalumni.net . Your username will change to firstname.lastname@sasalumni.net but your password and the contents of your mailbox will remain unchanged.
Your student email account can be access remotely via http://outlook.com.
A reminder will be circulated a few months before Graduation, giving you the opportunity to inform your contacts of the change, and there will be a handover period of 2 months when both addresses will receive mail.
Your alumni address will be set up in early December alongside your postgraduate account. Your username will change to the new suffix in early January when the primary addresses switch over, and the postgraduate address will cease to work on 31 January.
Former students who wish to get in touch with the School can now have a sasalumni.net account set up on request.
