Refugee Law Initiative Research Co-ordinator (0.50 FTE)
We are seeking a well-qualified candidate with excellent knowledge of Refugee Law and relevant academic and policy networks for the position of Research Co-ordinator for the Refugee Law Initiative within the Human Rights Consortium (HRC) in the School of Advanced Study, University of London.
The appointee will support and manage a network of refugee law scholars and practitioners in the UK and assist in the co-ordination of research projects and dissemination of knowledge in this field. The post forms part of the Refugee Law Initiative of the School of Advanced Study’s HRC and represents a strategic development designed to achieve policy impact in the field.
Requirements
You will have experience of research work in a higher education environment and public policy work. Specialist knowledge of contemporary issues and debates concerning refugee law is essential. Furthermore, you will be immediately effective in design and organisation of academic and/or practice-oriented events, such as conferences. Previous experience of attracting external funding and developing publicity and marketing materials would be an advantage.
A highly organised law graduate, you will ideally specialise in European migration law and be fluent in Spanish. Possessing a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate the willingness and ability to collaborate with others and to participate in research networks. An appropriate academic publications record is required.
About The Department
The main aim of the Human Rights Consortium will be to facilitate, promote and disseminate academic and policy work on Human Rights. It will hold conferences and seminars, host visiting fellows and coordinate the publication of high quality work in the field. The Consortium will establish a network of Human Rights researchers, policy-makers and practitioners across the UK and internationally, with a view to collaborating on a range of activities.
