AHRC Student-led Collaborative Skills Development award
Cynthia Johnston, an AHRC-funded PhD student in the Institute of English Studies, has been awarded an AHRC Student-led Collaborative Skills Development award. The aim of her twelve-month project is to stage an exhibition of ten manuscripts and early printed books from the R.E. Hart Collection of the Blackburn Museum in Lancashire at the Senate House Library. The project will enable Cynthia and her co-organizers, Tony Harris of Cambridge University and Sarah J. Biggs of the Courtauld Institute and the British Library, to gain first-hand experience curating a professional exhibition. They will document all phases of the process, from planning to delivery, through a dedicated 'Blackburn Blog' and Twitter account, as part of their effort to share their experiences with other graduate students. At the end of the year, the project will culminate in a colloquium on the Blackburn exhibition at the Institute.
